Message from the Superintendent

It is with great honor and pride that I serve as the Superintendent of Indian Oasis-Baboquivari Unified School District.  I want to take this opportunity to share a little about the transformation our school District is currently undertaking. 

Since my arrival in September, I have been working closely with the Governing Board, teachers & staff, principals, parents, students, and community members to learn as much as I can about our community.  As a result of these very valuable and informative conversations, we have put together a general plan that addresses key areas that will serve as our focus toward creating a highly successful learning environment.  An environment that is highly conducive toward learning, where each of our students will achieve their potential. 

Primarily we have identified four key areas that will guide our work over the next several months:

1.      Develop teaching and learning programs based on best practices that focus on student achievement.

2.      Design a highly effective and efficient educational support services division: Human Resources, Transportation, Facilities, Technology, and Finance.

3.      Establish positive and meaningful partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  Including the Tohono O’odham Nation, Tohono O’odham Community College, parents, students, teachers &staff, and the community at-large.

4.      Develop a highly effective system of support for the Governing Board that leads to highly effective governance.

This level of work will drive our efforts and direction because our students deserve the best possible education!
